privacy & confidentiality

Your privacy and confidentiality are taken seriously. As a Registered Psychotherapist, I am required to protect your personal health information in accordance with Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and the standards of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

Information shared in therapy is kept confidential and stored securely using privacy-compliant electronic systems. Personal information is collected only for the purposes of providing psychotherapy services.

limits of confidentiality
There are specific circumstances where confidentiality may be limited, including:

  • if there is an imminent risk of serious harm to yourself or others

  • if there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable person

  • if records are required by law or court order

 

These limits will be discussed as part of the informed consent process.

 

You have the right to access your personal health information and to ask questions about how it is stored and used.
